There was a show a decade or so back called Terra Nova. In it, the billionaires polluted the planet to the point people couldn’t go outside without a filter mask. The billionaires all lived in arcologies with breathable air, living trees, fresh water, and artificial suns providing light. The billionaires aren’t in this with us. Even if the world turns Mad Max, they’ll be living in utopian sanctuaries, defended by their personal armies.
It may not solve THE problem, but it does solve a lot of problems that get in the way of solving THE problem. Billionaires pollute in excess, starve people through fraud and wage theft, corrupt our governments, and often traffic children for depraved and horrific things. And if we include the richest 1% of the past in this same class, our planet is burning because they buried the knowledge of what oil was doing to our planet.
Let’s not kid ourselves, killing the billionaire class solves lots of problems, and it’s completely justified.
