I understand the point you’re making, but allowing Clevon to make another 48 kids with his neighbor hasn’t really helped avoid the descent into the hell called Murikkka.

Voting should be like driving; pass a simple test, get the right. Everyone can try, but not everyone will pass. But, since I’m wishing, i might as well hope for an Oompa Loompa that shits ice cream sundaes.

      allowing

That’s really the problem. The answer should be educating people and making choices to ensure they can choose to not make tons of kids, or vote against their own good. Of course humans are stoopid and that’s easier said than done (there will always be some dinguses that can’t be helped). Anyway, my point is, if we take reproducing or voting, or anything major affecting human rights and lives, and turn it into something that has to be surveilled and regulated by someone or something, it’s a speedrun to eugenics and dictatorships. I’ll take idiots making kids and voting rather than allow societies fall straight into fascism by making it easy

Umm, so fascism with extra steps. I’m not disagreeing, btw. I dunno what the solution actually looks like, but doing what we’re doing ain’t it.

Yeah, ain’t going too good for the world right now, I have no clue how to solve it either. But slow descent to fascism still allows seeking that solution and fighting against it, even if it now seems to be in vain…

First of all, in car-dependent America, damn near everybody does pass regardless of how shitty at real-world driving they are, because the test has been dumbed-down because driving is so “necessary.”

Second, the difference between driving and voting is that people administering driving tests aren’t highly motivated to fail people based on ideology.
