I hope that my rooted One UI 7 doesn’t get the update through some backdoor in the Google Play Services package… Or the next time I unblock Google Play to update the very few paid apps that I use…

Time to “divest” from Google’s garbage (and other “big tech” garbage):

    Etc…

Last I saw, Jolla isn’t targeting the US markets. I was so sad! I really want one, it looks like a great phone. I’m gonna put in a reminder to check on them every few months to see if that changes.

Everyone should be degoogling their devices before malware gets installed by an update. Get rid of windows while you’re at it. This may take time, so start now.

Just reinstall the OS without gapps. Done.

In my country, that’s a hard bargain, as we need certain apps that rely on gapps to identify ourselves in formal dealings with nation, county and city actors. But yeah, Graphene’s sandboxed Google Play Services would be a good start for me.

Unironically, the Google Pixel is ironically one of the best phones you can get to de-Google your smartphone experience. For now.

Specifically if you use GrapheneOS. Pretty easy to install, I’ve been on it for a couple months now and it’s great.
