So, for the clueless (me), what is Matrix. I hear people talk about it. Is it a chat platform, forum platform like Lemmy, or other. Might as well ask the stupid questions.

Could be something everyone is blocking in their browsers. I know I use arkenfox. No joy with LibreWolf or Waterfox. I did pull it up in Opera, and it worked ok. I didn’t browse any further than the front page. I only use Opera for paying bills as Firefox, LibreWolf, and Waterfox are set up to block a lot of excess crap, and my utilities love their bullshit webpage candy.

Ahhh, the ‘good old days’. Now days I have a business account with Spectrum. 1 gbps down/50 mbps up which is great for uploading and downloading large architectural drawings, but otherwise, it seems excessive.

I’ve never explored the Matrix. Reddit use to be the only ‘social media’ type outlet that I frequented, and now Lemmy. Total Accounts: 2,222,678. That seems significant.

Users won’t actually leave Discord. I emphasized ‘some’ in the opening paragraph because the announcement states that the vast majority of existing users won’t be impacted (¹the platform already has enough usage information to reliably identify their age).
