You’re looking at (very) roughly 10 year lifespan on those things. Helps a LOT that you kept them properly stored and all, but once you’re done moving, you take a weekend and transfer all that shit to a new medium, you hear? It’s easy to just forget about the stuff in the attic until one day you’re like, wow, do you remember when… And then you open up the storage and rats ate it all. It kind of really sucks. Just like the Pirate Bay they will try to find and prosecute individuals behind it and then try and force governments to block the domains. Which they did, all of those guys spent trivial prison sentences (this was early internet and in Sweden, circumstances are not the same anymore), and TPB was down for like… A year I think, before it popped right back up and is going just as strong as it ever did. Because just like these capitalist laws to protect the technofeudal class evolve to protect them, so does the methods by which creative hackers employ tech to fuck them in the ass.
