And your assertion that all of their operation funds would be better spent on feeding people assumes that there would be operating funds at all if OP weren’t working on a product that their investors believed would make profit for a return on their investments.
Which, you know, is the exact thing OP was lamenting: that they had to do a bunch of pointless side activities to get the funding necessary for them to keep making whatever they make.
